The Job

Groundworks to move manhole from kitchen to garden. Levelling then tiling large kitchen and installing new kitchen cabinets and appliances. Creating a faux unit that leads to a hidden pantry behind. Upgrade of downstairs cloakroom.

The Challenges

Shortly after the clients bought the property, they had a major leak under their existing kitchen in pipework encased in concrete. We worked with them and juggled timings with insurance loss adjusters, kitchen suppliers and worktop suppliers. And all in time for hosting their family at Christmas.

The Solution

We kept a constant dialogue with the clients before the works started to get updates on proposed start dates once the insurers signed the work off. We also provided the insurers with multiple quotes and discussed them with the clients, ultimately meeting a very tight deadline.

The verdict

“A few months after we moved into this house, Thames Water told us we were losing 600 litres an hour of water somewhere inside the house and we needed to fix it.

The leak was found underneath the kitchen floor and had clearly been going for some time, so we had to have the whole kitchen stripped out, the tiling and one metre of wall around the entire space removed, and then a few weeks of drying with high-power humidifiers.

Obviously, we used this opportunity to build the kitchen of our dreams. After a few false starts with other vendors, we started working with Ollie and yoppum and quickly felt confident that we’d get a good result.

We worked with a kitchen supplier to design the kitchen and then yoppum built and installed it. There was a lot of pre-work to move sewers, water, electricity and so forth, together with a complete two-zone wet underfloor heating project.

yoppum’s contractors were very professional and efficient throughout the process, adapting to changes as they came about, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. So pleased, in fact, that we’ve commissioned yoppum to replace both of our bathrooms and to do some cosmetic work elsewhere.

Ollie kept us up to date with progress throughout, was honest about it, and clearly knows his business.”
