The Job
A full four-bedroom house renovation. Two new bathrooms, new kitchen, roof repairs, new boiler installation, sanding and varnishing the wooden floors, new carpets, and painting and decorating.
The Challenges
The clients live in Malaysia and the property is their family home, which they rent out while overseas. The trick was to work to specific timelines to ensure the property wasn’t vacant for a long period.
We also regularly liaised with the family to keep them abreast of any issues. These included a survey that found roof repairs were needed and removing rotten floor joists in the ensuite bathroom and installing new ones.
The Solution
With time differences in mind, we set up very early weekly calls each Friday to run through progress that week and plan for the next. We also created a Whatsapp group to share photos, videos and comments.
Finally, we liaised with the agent to ensure the building was safe for showing around potential tenants and completed the project in time for the new tenancy.
The verdict
“We cannot recommend Oliver highly enough. He was so knowledgeable and helpful at every stage of the renovation process, keeping us informed about the work, making excellent recommendations and answering any questions we had.
The prospect of doing a renovation while we were overseas was daunting but Oliver made the entire experience stress-free and straightforward. We valued his suggestions of suitable products, his good eye for stylish interior choices, his understanding of the local property market and his contacts with suppliers.
The workmanship of his team was first class and the finished result was everything we were hoping for. We would definitely work with Oliver again for future projects.”
